One Last Time - SkyWatch Friday

For some reason I am really resisting going into winter this year. It is upon us now, the wind is really blowing hard, the temperatures are in the teens (F), the skies have turned grey and cloudy - but taking this picture is still fresh in my memory. Standing on a country road, listening to the Canadian geese as they gather for their flight south - I think about the day when I'll be able to follow them. In the mean time, I'll be waiting for spring.

  1. What a magnificent photo! I love the strands of barb wire that droop into the water! And the colours!!! I agree with you about winter - now if I could just drive with my eyes closed so I don't have to see the white stuff...

  3. Every now and then I close my eyes and wonder what it would be like to be standing in white stuff, or even to look out and see autumn colours!

  11. Good diagonal and placement of the horizon. You have some plants in the lower left to balance the trees in the upper right. I have lived in places north of Texas but it always seemed to snow in those places. I may melt if too many snowflakes hit my backside. I think I will tolerate the hot, humid weather in the summers to have milder winters. So I will be enjoying some of the days for the next few months.

  12. This is such a wonderful shot, I'm glad you pulled it out rather than looking for a winter sky. Time enough for those, it will be a while yet before spring comes.

  20. Beautiful. I miss the fall colors, it seemed like they came and went so fast. We are enjoying four seasons now that we have moved back north from Florida. Summer, Fall, and now winter is upon us here in PA too!

  22. What a lovely view, and one to keep in mind as the winter weather gets colder. My husband has been grumbling since the first snowflake fell. He has many more weeks left to grumble. We would love to one day spend the winter in the south too.

Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving your comment. My cousin's wedding was held at a lovely spot. If you would like to see some pictures of the wedding, they are posted on my flickr photo site

  25. I do understand why taking this image is stuck in your memory, it is a great representation of fall eve if the barb wire adds a not expected, but still very good, detail to the photo. I like it a lot! :D
