The Irish Towers - SkyWatch Friday

These two towers stand guard over the highway thru our region. I remember as a kid being able to climb to the top and seeing many lakes all around. Now the towers stand empty and neglected. If you are interested in their history follow this link.

  1. Very interesting. It is always sad to see beautiful old buildings like this so neglected. In Newcastle, N.H. there was a very old historic hotel called the Wentworth by the sea. For years and years it sat neglected and falling apart and then finally someone bought it and redid it. Now it is a thriving hotel. Which is so nice because there was quite a bit of U.S. history that went on in that building when it was newer. Sorry so long.

  3. How picturesque! I love the white on white, but the towers have so much personality than mere white.

  7. What a pity that the towers have not been restored and opened to the public. Great photo.
