Memorial Day - MyWorld

Please take the time to remember those who have given part or all of their life so that we can live in this free country with many freedoms that we often take for granted.

I wanted to share this photo with you. We found this mural in Bucyrus, Ohio. What is amazing is that the mural was painted on the side of a building. It is a flat one dimensional painting. It is so real, that when I was standing 3 feet away from it, I had to actually touch the wall to convince my brain that it wasn't dimensional. You can learn more about this mural and about the artist by following this link. Have a safe and meaningful holiday.

First Cutting Hay - SkyWatch Friday

First cutting of hay has been cut and taken off the fields. This farm always catches our attention when we go past. The place always look well cared for. But the most interesting thing is the barn. It has a very unusual shape. Someday we'll have to stop and ask the history of this barn. Enjoy the holiday weekend.

Remember When

I may be dating myself, but do you remember when this was a common sight. Do you remember when you could order a root beer and it was brought out to your car in a frosted glass? Oh, was it ever good! In our town the place to hang out was "The Little Skipper." Every now and again, I flash to the past and can see the old gang hanging out. Now the gang is old and the hangout is gone. A car wash stands in it's place... Somehow it's not the same.

Morning Has Broken - MyWorld

Morning is such a magical time of the day for me. This time of the year the fog rolls in during the night and clings to the earth until the sun burns it off. The effect is most intense at this time of the year because of the large differences in the ground and air temperature between nighttime and daytime. This particular morning the whole world seemed to have a golden glow.

Tulips in the Rough - MyWorld

I found these lonely tulips growing next to an old run down building. I liked the contrast in the vertical lines of the door and grass with the horizontal lines of the bricks as well as the textures.

To My Mother

You're such a loving person
with so many thoughtful ways
Of caring and of sharing
and of brightening other's days.
So it isn't any wonder
that you're loved so very much
Or that you're such a special part
of all the lives you touch.

I just got back from spending a whole week with just mom and I. It was really refreshing to be in the beautiful weather of Florida, while at the same time I had a few anxious moments when I missed being on the internet. Not once, during the whole week did I access the web. However, the peace and quiet and slow pace made up for it. I survived, now I am back at full speed.

This was a lovely bouquet of flowers that mom received from my sister.

Words that Inspire - SkyWatch Friday

"The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.” John Muir

The Smell of Memories - MyWorld

The lilacs are in full bloom. Their fragrance fills the air and reminds me of the purple lilac tree by the back porch when I was growing up. Memories......yes, this was a good one.
