Happy New Year

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Much pleasure thou can'st give me;
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Much pleasure thou can'st give me;
How often has the Christmas tree
Afforded me the greatest glee!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Much pleasure thou can'st give me.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy candles shine so brightly!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy candles shine so brightly!
From base to summit, gay and bright,
There's only splendor for the sight.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy candles shine so brightly!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
How richly God has decked thee!
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
How richly God has decked thee!
Thou bidst us true and faithful be,
And trust in God unchangingly.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
How richly God has blessed thee!

Waiting To Be Discovered

This was as close as we could get to this treasure. The junk yard dog was guarding his territory. And doing a mighty fine job of it too!

Junk Yard Dog

After I saw this dog, this song kept going thru my head all the rest of the day:

Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown

And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog

Detroit's Many Faces

On Christmas Day we had the opportunity to travel to down town Detroit. Not much traffic on the holiday, so we were able to enjoy the city in ways that are not normally possible. We found this beautiful piece of wall art- painted on the side of a huge building in a lonely part of town. You can only appreciate this masterpiece when you realize the scale of it. The car is a normal car. Enjoy.

Angels Singing

Angels from the realms of glory,
wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth.

Love Came Down At Christmas

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love divine;
Love was born at Christmas;
Star and angels gave the sign.

What Child Is This?

What child is this who, laid to rest,
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Infant holy, infant lowly,
for his bed a cattle stall;
oxen lowing, little knowing
Christ the babe is Lord of all.

The Friendly Beasts

"I" said the donkey, shaggy and brown,
"I carried his mother uphill and down,
I carried his mother to Bethlehem town;"
"I" said the donkey, shaggy and brown.

Angels Singing

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing ov’er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.

It Came Upon A Midnight Clear

It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
from angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow - MyWorld Tuesday

I guess we were just plain lucky. Only about 6 inches of snow, cold temperatures and blowing winds. It could be worse. Just look at the other northern states. Way to go Minnesota! Today is a new day. The sun is shining.

The Big Chill

This poor guy has the enormous task of blowing snow off of the 108,000 seats in the University of Michigan's "Big House" stadium before tomorrow afternoon when the first ever ice hockey game will be held in the stadium. Michigan vs Michigan State. With that many people packed in, I guess it won't matter that it will be below freezing.

Just Me and the Birds - SkyWatch

Oh what a difference two weeks makes! Two weeks ago was Thanksgiving and we were enjoying the sunshine and beach. Today it was 9 degrees F on the way to work. Yuck!

Daytona Beach - SkyWatch Friday

One thing I really like about having to travel to Florida to visit mom is the beautiful sunrises on the ocean.
